The roots of Alagammai Achi Memorial Aided Elementary School trace back to the year 1957, when the institution was founded by Karuthan Chettiar in loving memory of his mother, Alagammai Achi.

With deep reverence for his mother and a strong commitment to education, Karuthan Chettiar took over the management of an existing elementary school known as Jayankondar Kalvi Nilayam. He later renamed and developed it as Alagammai Achi Memorial Aided Elementary School, establishing a lasting legacy of service through education.

Our Legacy
Founder’s Vision

The foundation of the school was built on deep respect for education and family legacy. Karuthan Chettiar envisioned the institution as a centre of learning that would continue to serve generations with dedication and stability.

In the year 1977, he executed a will clearly expressing his desire to preserve the institution’s legacy. As per his wishes and the ambitions of his ancestors, the responsibility of running the school was entrusted exclusively to the male descendants of his family, ensuring continuity of values and commitment.

Legacy and Leadership

Following the demise of Karuthan Chettiar in 1978, the management of the school was taken over by his sons:

  • KR. Annamalai
  • KR. Alagappan

Under their leadership, the school continued to uphold the founder’s ideals, maintaining discipline, tradition, and dedication to providing quality primary education to the community.
